Zambian Airways to pull out of Harare
Zambian Airways will cease flights to Harare, Zimbabwe on December 1, citing high fuel costs and extreme currency fluctuations in Zimbabwe.
Zambian Airways purchases aircraft
Zambian Airways has signed an agreement with Saf-Air of South Africa for the purchase of two B732s and the option of a third. The aircraft will be operated on multiple daily trips to Johannesburg from the airline’s base in Lusaka.
Zambian Airways leases an Embraer 120
Zambian Airways has leased an Embraer 120 Brasilia with 30 seats from South Africa-based Naturelink. The aircraft will be oeprated on the airline’s domestic routes.
Zambian Airways to introduce low fare flights to Johannesburg
Zambian Airways has announced that it will start low-fare flights between the capital of Zambia and the commercial centre of South Africa. Flights between Lusaka and Johannesburg are set to begin in March initially with daily flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, with ambitions to serve the city pair twice per day. The airline will lease an MD82 from South Africa, and already has signed a sales agreement with kulula.com.
Zambian Airways currently serves regional and domestic cities of Lusaka, Chipata, Harare, Lilongwe, Livingstone, Lubumbashi, Mfuwe and N’dola.
