South Africa’s Nationwide ceased operations today due to financial difficulties stemming from increased fuel costs and loss of revenue from grounding its fleet last year.

Nationwide of South Africa has been grounded by the country’s CAA citing concerns about the maintenance of the 16 aircraft in its fleet.
Nationwide to fly to London 5x per week

Nationwide will start a fifth weekly flight to London Gatwick from Johannesburg effective January 22. Flights are operated using a single B763. The new schedule will see the airline operating one daylight flight to London, and two daylight flights back to Johannesburg.
