Ethiopian, Lufthansa to increase frequency to/from Addis Ababa
Ethiopian Airlines and Lufthansa will increase their frequencies between their respective hubs to 5 flights per week each. Ethiopian is revising its schedule which will see its flight to Frankfurt operated during the day while Lufthansa will maintain its night time flight out of Addis (daytime from Frankfurt). Lufthansa will also dedicate the flight to only serve Addis instead of the current services that continues on to Sana’a.
Ethiopian’s revised schedule, which takes effect in June will operate daily except Mondays and Fridays. Lufthansa’s service will go up to 5x per week in March, operating daily except Tuesdays and Sundays.

Lufthansa to return to Port Harcourt
Lufthansa will return to Port Harcourt, Nigeria as of October 25 with 4 flights per week via Abuja.
Lufthansa, Brussels codeshare on African routes
Brussels Airlines has placed its code on Lufthansa’s service to Libreville, Gabon, while the latter has placed its code on the former’s service to Entebbe, Uganda.
Lufthansa doubles service to Luanda
Lufthansa has added a second weekly flight to Luanda, Angola. Flights operate on Thursdays and Sundays using A343 aircraft.

Lufthansa will begin new service to Libreville, Gabon on July 15. Flights will operate 5x per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays and Saturdays using A346 aircraft.

Ethiopian placing code on Lufthansa flights
Further to Lufthansa placing its code on Ethiopian flights, Ethiopian is placing its code on select Lufthansa services from Frankfurt to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Geneva and Stockholm.
Lufthansa placing code on Ethiopian’s african flights
While no formal announcements were made, Lufthansa is placing its code on select Ethiopian Airlines services to Nairobi, Dar Es Salaam, Kigali, and Entebbe.
Ethiopian to place code on Lufthansa flights to the US
Lufthansa has applied and received permission from the US Department of Transportation for Ethiopian Airlines to place its code (to code share) on LH flights between Europe and the United States. The approval, which is initially based on service between Frankfurt and the cities of San Fransisco and Los Angeles per the application, allows for Ethiopian to place its code effective August 1.
Ethiopian and Lufthansa to implement codeshare
Ethiopian Airlines and Lufthansa will implement an agreement signed in 2007 to codeshare on the Addis Ababa - Frankfurt route. With this agreement, the airlines will offer a combined daily service between their respective hubs effective March 30.

Lufthansa will begin new service to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea with the introduction of its Summer 2008 schedule. Flights will be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays using A333 aircraft.

Lufthansa will start new service between Frankfurt, Germany and Luanda, Angola on April 1. The weekly flight will operate on using an A343.

Ethiopian and Lufthansa in frequent flyer agreement
Effective October 28, members of Ethiopian Airlines’ ShebaMiles and Lufthansa’s Miles & More will be able to earn miles and redeem reward tickets on flights operated by the other airline.
Lufthansa’s flights to Accra suspended
According to news reports from Ghana, Lufthansa flights to Accra have been suspended following the expiration of its flight permit on July 14. Flights to Lagos, Nigeria, which is a stop over to Accra, remain unaffected.
Update: Ghana’s Minister for Aviation is quoted by the VOA explaining events that led to Lufthansa’s suspension of its service to Accra: “Lufthansa has been doing seven frequencies; two arising out of bilateral service agreement, and five out of commercial co-operation agreement between the then-Ghana Airways and Lufthansa. Now, the five were given to Lufthansa the five were given to Lufthansa at the instance of Ghana Airways from government, the royalties of which were payable to Ghana Airways. In addition Ghana Airways was entitled to put a certain number of passengers on blocked seats on Lufthansa’s flight between Accra and Lagos, Accra. For no apparent reason, Lufthansa unilaterally, failed to pick up passengers of Ghana Airways. However it continued to use the five frequencies without paying royalties[…]” The airline suspended flights stating that a twice per week frequency “is not financially viable.”
EgyptAir and Lufthansa to codeshare
EgyptAir and Lufthansa have reportedly signed an agreement to codeshare on each other’s flights between Cairo and Frankfurt, Cairo and Munich, and Alexandria and Frankfurt. The agreement will take effect next winter.
Lufthansa and Ethiopian sign code-sharing agreement
Bloomberg reports that Lufthansa and Ethiopian signed a code-sharing agreement last week. The details of the agreement, which is reportedly to take effect mid-year, have not been released.
Lufthansa returns to Cape Town

Lufthansa is to increase its frequency to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to 4x per week as of the upcoming Summer schedule. Flights will be operated via Khartoum on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Effective the upcoming summer schedule which is set to begin at the end of March, Lufthansa will increase service from Frankfurt to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Khartoum, Sudan from the current 3x per week to 4x per week, maintaining the existing schedules. Additionally, Lufthansa will begin 5th freedom service between Addis Ababa and Khartoum.
Lufthansa goes daily to Cape Town
For its upcoming winter schedule, Lufthansa will up its 3x weekly schedule to Cape Town to daily, with all flights operated nonstop by an A343.
Lufthansa to resume service to Algiers
After an interruption of almost 15 years, Lufthansa is to resume services to Algiers on July 15. The route will be served 5x per week from Frankfurt (no flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays) with a mix of B733s and B735s.
