Brussels Airlines to add flights to Abidjan

The upcoming summer schedule will see Brussels Airlines increasing its frequency to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire from the current four to six weekly flights.

Brussels Airlines will begin new service to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso from Brussels, Belgium this summer. Flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays using A333 aircraft.

Brussels Airlines will begin new service to Accra, Ghana from Brussels, Belgium as part of a triangle route that includes Monrovia, Liberia. Flights will be operated using A333 aircraft.

A new airline for the DRC

Brussels Airlines is reportedly setting up a new airline named “Korongo” in the DRC to be based in Lubumbashi. Korongo is expected to serve the major cities of DRC, as well as the capitals of the sub-region such as Luanda, Johannesburg and Nairobi.

EgyptAir, Brussels Airlines to codeshare

EgyptAir and the new member of Star Alliance, Brussels Airlines, will begin codesharing on EgyptAir flights between Brussels and Cairo as well as Brussels and Luxor.

Lufthansa, Brussels codeshare on African routes

Brussels Airlines has placed its code on Lufthansa’s service to Libreville, Gabon, while the latter has placed its code on the former’s service to Entebbe, Uganda.

Rwandair to place code on Virgin Atlantic, Brussels Airlines flights

Rwandair will reportedly place its code on Virgin Atlantic’s flights between Nairobi, Kenya and London Heathrow allowing it to sell tickets between Kigali and London.

The airline has signed a similar agreement with Brussels Airlines allowing it to sell tickets on the latter’s service to Brussels, Belgium.

Ethiopian and Brussels to code share

Ethiopian Airlines and Brussels Airlines have entered into a code share agreement covering Ethiopian’s daily service between Addis Ababa and Brussels. The agreement takes effect on June 17.

A new airline for the DRC

Belgium-based Brussels Airlines and Democratic Republic of Congo-based Hewa Bora Airways have announced the launch of a new airline to be named AirDC. The airline will operate domestic flights as well as jointly operate with Brussels Airlines on three European routes. The airline, which will be based at Kinshasa N’Djili airport, will operate BAe 146 and B737 aircraft beginning in early 2008.

Brussels Airlines to increase service to East Africa

Brussels Airlines will increase services to its African destinations as follows effective December 16:
- Entebbe, Uganda will be served 4x per week, up from the current 3x per week
- Kigali, Rwanda will be served 3x per week, up from the current 2x per week
- Bujumbura, Burindi will be served 2x per week, up from the current 1x per week
