British Airways will add a second weekly flight to Luanda, Angola from London Heathrow this winter. Flights will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays.

British Airways will increase service to Entebbe, Uganda from Heathrow from the current three to five flights per week. The changes, which take effect on October 28, will also see the airline operating on a new schedule that sees the flight leaving Heathrow in the morning. Flights will operate out of Heathrow on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

bmi will suspend services to Dakar, Sénégal on May 1 citing commercial reasons. British Airways, which placed its code on bmi’s route, is also affected by the suspension.

British Airways announced that it will cease direct services from London Heathrow to Harare, Zimbabwe at the end of next month citing economic reasons. The airline will continue to serve the city via South Africa through its franchisee Comair.

TAAG Angola Airlines, Angola’s flag carrier, was added to EU’s list of banned airlines last week and was set to operate its last flight out of Lisbon today. Reportedly, the government of Angola has in turn banned British Airways from operating into Luanda - TAAG was set to start services to London Gatwick this summer. Reuters also reports that other European airlines may also be banned from serving Angola.

British Airways, having already increased frequency on flights between London Gatwick and Algiers, Algeria, will add two more weekly flights this summer using B734s. Flights will be operated on Mondays and Thursdays.

British Airways will double its service to Cape Town, South Africa from London this winter with the introduction of a new daily flight. The seasonal flight will be operated using a B744.

GB Airways, British Airways’ franchisee will boost services between London and Morocco with the introduction of 12 flights per week to Marrakesh from London Heathrow. Flights will be operated using A320 aircraft.

British Airways, through its franchise partner British Mediterranean, will increase services to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Khartoum, Sudan from 4x to 5x per week effective the end of March. The new flight to Addis will be operated via Beirut, Lebanon on Wednesdays using A320s, while the others will be operated via Borg el Arab (Alexandria) using A321s. The additional flight to Khartoum will be operated on Saturdays using A320s via Ankara, Turkey.
