Air Seychelles to Cape Town

Air Seychelles will extend one of its twice weekly Johannesburg service to Cape Town, South Africa effective March 21. The service will operate on Sundays.

Air Seychelles will begin new service to London Gatwick, bringing its total service to the London area to 3x per week. Flights will operate on Mondays.

Air Seychelles took delivery of a leased B762 earlier this week.

Air Seychelles started new service to Moscow Vnukovo from its base in Mahe began on December 30, using B762 aircraft.

Air Seychelles grounds two B762s

Air Seychelles is reportedly grounding two B762s on lease from XL Leisure Group following the latter’s suspension of services following its entry into administration today. Air Seychelles leased the aircraft from XL in a deal that includes maintenance, without which, the airline cannot operate the leased aircraft.

New B763 for Air Seychelles

Air Seychelles has signed an agreement with ILFC for the lease of a B763, which will join two existing aircraft of the same type and a B762. The new aircraft will be delivered in the fall of 2008.

Air Seychelles launch customer for DHC6–400

Air Seychelles has signed a deal with Viking Air for the purchase of two DHC-6 Twin Otter Series 400s and one option, becoming the launch customer for the type. The airline, which has operated a fleet of DHC-6-300s as far back as 1987, will take delivery of the new types during the first quarter of 2009.

Air Seychelles considering chinese-made Y12

Air Seychelles is considering the purchase of Chinese-made Y12 turboprop aircraft seating 19 as a replacement to its aging fleet of DHC-6s. This follows a meeting with company officials and a delegation of China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation.

Air Seychelles to replace 767s with 787s

Air Seychelles has signed a letter of intent with International Lease and Finance Corporation (ILFC) for the lease of two B787-Dreamliners to replace its existing long-range fleet of B763s. The aircraft are slated for delivery in May and September 2010.
