Air Namibia disposes of Fokker 28s
Air Namibia has sold its two Fokker 28s to Johannesburg-based aircraft charter and leasing firm Airquarius Aviation.
Air Namibia to scale back London
Air Namibia is reportedly set to scale back its frequency to London Gatwick from the current 3x per week to 2x per week effective January 18.
Air Namibia to increase Luanda service
Air Namibia will increase its frequency from Windhoek to Luanda, Angola to 3x per week from the current 2. The new flight will be operated on Mondays, along with the existing flights on Fridays and Sundays effective November 27.
Air Namibia replaces its MD11 with a B744
Air Namibia, having just returned its MD11 which was on lease for the last two years, has replaced it with an ex-Malaysia Airlines B744 for use while a second A340 is configured for its use. The airline currently operates another A340 on long haul routes.
Air Namibia to stop serving Swakopmund
Air Namibia is to drop the domestic route of Windhoek-Swakopmund at the end of this month as part of a “broader rationalisation to make the whole domestic operation profitable.”
Air Namibia to resume services to London
Air Namibia is set to return to London on July 2, with a 3x per week nonstop service from Windhoek, Namibia to London Gatwick. Flights will be operated by a leased MD11 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Air Namibia leases two Airbus A340s
Air Namibia is leasing two Airbus A343s to replace the current MD11s leased for European services. The latter were leased in order to replace the airline’s sole B744-Combi which was sold off as part of a plan unveiled last year. The 340s are to be brought in from Lufthansa’s current fleet, with the first one set for delivery at the begining of December, and in the third quarter of 2006. They will be configured identically, with 44 Business and 234 Economy class seats.
