Air Mauritius expands code share with Malaysia Airlines

Air Mauritius and Malaysia Airlines have expanded their code share agreement beyond service between their respective hubs to include MAS service to selected destinations in Australia and Asia. The agreement also calls for MAS to place its code on Air Mauritius’ regional flights at a later time.

Air Mauritius and Air France expand codeshare

Air Mauritius and Air France have expanded their codeshare agreement beyond the Mauritius-Paris route. Air Mauritius will be able to add its code to Air France flights connecting at the Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport (Paris-CDG) to Europe, Israel and North Africa and reciprocally, Air France will be able to add its code to Air Mauritius flights connecting in Mauritius.

Air Mauritius quits Sydney, switch to Zurich

Air Mauritius will stop service to Syndey, Australia effective September 1 as it reduces growth and capacity owing to high fuel prices and softening demand. The airline will continue to serve Melbourne, which will see nonstop service. The airline will however operate services to Sydney for the winter peak period of December through January.

Air Mauritius will also switch its service to Switzerland from its current destination, Geneva, to Zurich effective January 18, 2009.

Air Mauritius to Bangalore

Air Mauritius will inaugurate weekly service to Bangalore, India on April 28. The flight will operate on Mondays using A332 aircraft.

Air Mauritius in a sale-leaseback deal for its B762s

Air Mauritius has sold and leased back its two B762s in a deal signed with a US-based consortium Marathon Assets Finance, Compass Capital and GA Telefis, signaling the begining of the end for the aircraft in its fleet. The aircraft will remain with the airline until February, by which time its A343s would be delievered, and the airline would have an all-Airbus jet fleet.

Air Mauritius to increase Mumbai service

Begining April, Air Mauritius will increase its current 4x per week service between the island of Mauritius and Mumbai, India to 6x per week. The current flights, operated on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays will be augmented with flights on Mondays and Saturdays. All flights will be operated using a B762.

Air Mauritius to replace Boeing long haul fleet

Air Mauritius has announced a decision to purchase three Airbus A340-300Es to replace its aging long haul fleet of Boeing B767-200s. Delivery is set to start in October 2006.
