Rwandair Express leases aircraft from Air Malawi

Rwandair Express has leased Air Malawi’s B735 for a one year period. The aircraft, which will be operated by Air Malawi crew, will serve Kenya and South Africa from Rwandair’s base in Kigali.

Air Zimbabwe to double flights to Dubai

Air Zimbabwe, having reintroduced its weekly flights to Dubai, UAE and Guangzhou, China, will double services to the former to 2x per week. Dubai will be served on Mondays and Wednesdays, with stops at Lusaka, Zambia and Lilongwe, Malawi. Zambia Skyways and Air Malawi also place their respective codes on the route.

Air Zimbabwe in pact with Air Malawi and Zambia Skyways on London route

Air Zimbabwe has signed agreements with Air Malawi and Zambia Skyways to serve London via Lilongwe and Lusaka, respectively. Effective December 6, the airline will serve London via Lilongwe on Wednesdays, along with service via Lusaka on Fridays and Sundays.

Rescue plan for Air Malawi revealed

The Malawi Nation publication reports that Air Malawi’s board of directors have agreed on a rescue plan that includes leasing out and possibly selling the airline’s B737s in a bid to save the airline from liquidation. The airline’s B735 has reportedly been leased out to a Jordanian operator on a 4-year lease (with the option for outright purchase), while the B733 is expected to be sold and leased back. The plan also includes the leasing of newer aircraft to operate on the airline’s regional routes.

Air Zimbabwe, Air Malawi codeshare on Dubai route

Air Zimbabwe and Air Malawi signed an agreement to codeshare on the former’s flights to Dubai from Harare, Zimbabwe, which will now operate via Lilongwe, Malawi on Mondays. Two other flights are operated during the week via Entebbe, Uganda codeshared with East African Airlines.

Air Malawi has reversed its decision to suspend its twice per week service to Dubai from Lilongwe. Flights will continue to operate via Nairobi.

Air Malawi suspends Dubai route

Air Malawi has reportedly suspended its weekly service to Dubai. The flights out of Lilongwe were operated via Nairobi, Kenya using B733 aircraft.

Air Malawi expecting second B737

Air Malawi has indicated that it is expecting a used B735 to join its fleet before the end of the year. The airline currently operates a B733, an ATR-42 and an Let-410.

Air Malawi to start services to Dubai

Air Malawi will start flights to Dubai UAE, originating in Lilongwe (LLW), effective June 17. Flights will be operated with B733s on Tuesdays and Fridays. The flight will make a stop at Nairobi, with no rights to carry passengers between Nairobi and Dubai.
