Air Algerie airline has taken delivery of the first of four ATR 72-500s ordered last year.

Air Algerie will begin new service between Constantine, Algeria and Istanbul, Turkey on March 30. Flights will operate nonstop on Tuesdays and Thursdays using B736 aircraft.

Air Algerie has signed a deal to buy four 66-seat ATR72s

Air Algerie has placed an order for seven B738s at the Dubai Air Show.

Air Algérie has applied for and received approval to double its frequency between Algiers and Montréal, Canada from June 15 to September 27, 2009.

Air Algérie will reportedly begin service to Beijing, China from its base in Alegiers as early as February 2009. Flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays using A330 aircraft.

Air Algérie will increase capacity between Algiers and Montréal with the introduction of a third weekly frequency between June 29 and September 27.

Following recent agreements between the governments of Canada and Algeria, Air Algerie has indicated that it would serve Montreal from its hub in Algiers twice per week, although no official timetables are set. Air Canada on the other hand intends to start up service through codeshare with one of its European partners.

Air Algerie took delivery of its eighth B738 from Boeing, with its final one or order set for delivery in August 2006.

Air Algerie also operates a mix of five A332s, one A333, two A312s, eight B732s, five B736s, one B734, three B763s and one B752.
