Rescue plan for Air Malawi revealed
The Malawi Nation publication reports that Air Malawi’s board of directors have agreed on a rescue plan that includes leasing out and possibly selling the airline’s B737s in a bid to save the airline from liquidation. The airline’s B735 has reportedly been leased out to a Jordanian operator on a 4-year lease (with the option for outright purchase), while the B733 is expected to be sold and leased back. The plan also includes the leasing of newer aircraft to operate on the airline’s regional routes.
