Ethiopian to add flight to Paris
Ethiopian will add a fifth weekly flight to Paris, France from Addis Ababa, continuing on to Brussels, Belgium. The new flight will operate on Thursdays using B763 aircraft.
Turkish and Ethiopian sign code share agreement
Turkish Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines have signed a code share agreement for flights between Istanbul and Addis Ababa operated by Turkish. The agreement takes effect on January 15.
A new airline for the DRC
Brussels Airlines is reportedly setting up a new airline named “Korongo” in the DRC to be based in Lubumbashi. Korongo is expected to serve the major cities of DRC, as well as the capitals of the sub-region such as Luanda, Johannesburg and Nairobi.
Hainan Airlines applies for addtitional service to Africa
Hainan Airlines has applied to the Civil Aviation Administration of China for the opening of new service between Beijing, China and Cairo, Egypt, continuing on to Algiers, Algeria.
RAM adds Agadir - Lyon service

Air Mauritius will add a single frequency to its weekly flight to New Delhi effective April.
Rwandair adds CRJs, looks for additional aircraft, routes
Rwandair has purchased two CRJ-200s previously operated by Lufthansa and taken delivery of the first aircraft, with the second one due for delivery before year’s end. The airline is also in talks with airplane manufacturers for additional aircraft.
With the acquisition of new aircrafts, Rwandair will increase the number of destinations to include Tanzania, where it will be flying to Dar el Salam and Arusha, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where it will begin with flights to Goma and later Lubumbashi and eventually Kinshasa.
South African leases A332s
South African has signed an agreement with Aircastle to lease six new A332s. The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery in 2011.

Ethiopian, Lufthansa to increase frequency to/from Addis Ababa
Ethiopian Airlines and Lufthansa will increase their frequencies between their respective hubs to 5 flights per week each. Ethiopian is revising its schedule which will see its flight to Frankfurt operated during the day while Lufthansa will maintain its night time flight out of Addis (daytime from Frankfurt). Lufthansa will also dedicate the flight to only serve Addis instead of the current services that continues on to Sana’a.
Ethiopian’s revised schedule, which takes effect in June will operate daily except Mondays and Fridays. Lufthansa’s service will go up to 5x per week in March, operating daily except Tuesdays and Sundays.

Asky to start services in January
Asky has set January 15, 2010 as its start-up date. The airline will initially serve Lagos, Accra, Abidjan and Niamey using two leased B73Gs that are registered in Ethiopia. No schedule information is currently available.
Congo Express: new airline for the DRC
Congo Express is a new airline being established in the Democratic Republic of Congo with the assistance of South African Express. The airline will use a fleet of CRJ200 aircraft and initially provide domestic connections between Kinshasa, Lubumbashi and Mbuji-Mayi with plans later to add Kisangani to the network.
